Behind the Boutique: How I Choose What to Stock - Stella's Boutique

Behind the Boutique: How I Choose What to Stock

One of the best parts of running Stella’s Boutique is curating the pieces we bring in. But I won’t lie, I’m picky. I don’t just go for what’s trending or what’s easy to source. Every item goes through a kind of “real life” filter: Would I actually wear this? Use it? Gift it to a friend?

I don’t want to add more noise to your day. I want to offer things that work - pieces that make you feel good without needing a second thought.

Here’s a little look at what guides my buying:

1. It needs to feel effortless
Whether it’s a dress or a piece of homeware, I think: Is this something you can throw on or use without fuss? I'm not about to give myself, or you, anything more to think about.

2. It has to feel joyful
A lovely print, a cosy fabric, a detail that makes you smile - if it doesn’t add something good to your day, it doesn’t make the cut.

3. It has to suit real life
Kids, work, home life... most of us don’t have time for clothes that need steaming or homeware that’s “just for show.” I think about washing instructions, sizing, practicality - all the things that matter when you’re a mum!

4. It has to fit the vibe
I always come back to this: Does it feel calm, warm? Does it feel like Stella's? If it clashes with the tone of Stella’s, it’s a no.

My hope is that when something arrives from Stella’s Boutique, it feels like it was chosen with care, because it is.
